Rabbits have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. When I was a child rabbits were a family affair since my dad, my uncle and both my grandfathers raised them. As an adult I have had rabbits for over twenty years. We currently have a small urban rabbitry specializing in pure bred French Angoras and are members of the American Rabbit Breeders Association and the National Angora Rabbit Breeders Club. We focus on the production of French Angoras and strive to meet the ARBA "Standard of Perfection" in regard to their wool and type. We show our rabbits at A.R.B.A. sanctioned shows on a regular basis and have consistently placed at the top of the variety or breed. Careful attention is given to condition of wool as it is later harvested and used for spinning beautiful yarn. We also have several rescued rabbits that have come to us from nearby communities. We enjoy our animals, and our extended family includes a Bichon Frise and a lovebird. We find that our animals add an element of peace to our lives. Our rabbits live in a barn near a very old lilac bush in our backyard. They seem to be quite relaxed in their surroundings hence the name Lilac Haven. Occasionally we sell quality pedigreed French Angoras for wool production or for breeding/show and at times we have an individual available that doesn't fit into our breeding program but that would be suitable as a pet.
